TOULOUSE: The Airbus Corporate Foundation has completed a third relief flight to Cebu, Philippines using the delivery flight of a Philippines Airlines A330 to carry 19 tonnes of water sanitation equipment and food from Action Contre la Faim.
In a separate move, Airbus and Aviation Sans Frontières have transported clothing and school supplies donated by Office Depot to Thailand on the delivery flight of a Thai Airways International A380.
The aircraft carried 10 tonnes of goods for the Royal Project for Education, which helps build schools in rural areas all over Thailand. The donations included new clothes for children up to six years old as well as basic school supplies.
Chokchai Panyayong, Thai Airways senior executive vice president, commented: "This is the fourth goodwill flight with the Airbus Corporate Foundation and the third with one of our A380s. We are very proud to be able to use our delivery flights to transport donations such as these goods received by Aviation Sans Frontières. The clothes and supplies will be particularly appreciated by children in rural areas in Thailand."
Andrea Debbané, executive director of the Airbus Foundation, added: "The delivery flights of all-new aircraft are a perfect way to help deserving causes in our customer's countries. We would like to thank Thai and our partners involved in this project: Kuehne+Nagel for their logistics support, Office Depot for their generous donation of school supplies, and Aviation sans Frontières without whom this project could not have been possible."
Since its launch in December 2008, the Airbus Corporate Foundation has facilitated 37 relief or goodwill flights to numerous destinations all over the globe.
