AUSTIN, TX: The Porsche 919 hybrid of Mark Webber, Brendon Hartley and Timo Bernhard has won Round 5 of the six-hour World Endurance Championship.
The race was held on September 19 at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
Austin brought the fourth victory in total for the Porsche 919 Hybrid after its maiden win at Interlagos in 2014 and Le Mans and Nürburgring in 2015.
With its success in the heat of the night at the Circuit of the Americas, Porsche has extended its lead in the manufacturers' standings in the World Championship with 220 points ahead of Audi (184).
Two Audi R18 e-tron Quattro were placed second and third followed by a Toyota TS040 Hybrid.
The race series will expand to nine next year with the addition of a round at the Mexico City Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit, currently being remodeled for this year's Formula 1 Grand Prix.
The winning team had arrived in Austin via four B747F flights that carried 400 tonnes of equipment including 31 racing and four safety cars (right) from Frankfurt Hahn airport.
DHL and VG Cargo handled the point-to-point logistics.
"From the delivery to loading we work hand in hand and in doing so we ensure that these high value vehicles are moved safely and efficiently", said Hahn airport spokesperson Hanna Koch.
