Brexit trade implications revealed

LONDON: April 20, 2017. The announcement this week of a UK general election on June 08 in a bid by UK prime minister Theresa May to confirm her government's position on Brexit, follows publication of a guide to the uncertain future relationship between the UK and European Union by UK-based trade consulting service Tradewin.

May and EU Parliament presidentMeeting with Theresa May in London on April 20, European Parliament president Antonio Tajani stressed the importance of a deal to safeguard people's rights in the wake of Brexit.

"The European Parliament's message is clear: strongly defending their interests is our first priority," he said.

In a press conference following the meeting, Tajani underlined the importance of an agreement on the rights of Europeans living in the UK and UK citizens living in the EU: "The [millions of ] students, workers and families are valuable members of society and deserve some certainty regarding their future," he declared.

According Tradewin, European and global businesses that engage in trade activities between the UK, European Union, and the rest of the world will see significant structural changes to the Customs environment over the coming years as a result of Brexit.
