PRESS RELEASE

August 24, 2015: Komatsu has established a plant in Mandalay, Myanmar for the remanufacturing and sale of construction and mining equipment as well as power generators.

Komatsu has been strengthening its Reman business, which is the remanufacture of used components including engines and transmissions, to produce and supply equipment equal in quality to OEMs.

The new facility is Komatsu's latest Reman factory and represents the company's first for construction and mining equipment in Myanmar. To help the country's electric power supply shortages, it will also manufacture power generators.

As a result of Myanmar's rapid economic development in the last few years, Komatsu expects growing demand for construction and mining equipment as the country is a leading producer of jade.

Komatsu handles the global supply of Reman components via 13 factories and regional Reman centers. The company remakes and globally supplies large engines, large transmissions and hydraulic cylinders at its factory in Indonesia, and electric drive wheel motors and hydraulic cylinders in its Reman facility in Chile. It also rebuilds engines in Australia and Brazil.

In certain regions where the global supply chain is not accessible, such as China, Russia, India and Brazil, Komatsu has set up regional Reman centers to meet local demand.

The company says its remanufacturing business contributes to reducing machine downtime, improving availability and lowering lifecycle maintenance costs by providing highly reliable components at a more reasonable cost than buying new.
