SINGAPORE: November 01, 2016. Singapore Post has made its largest investment in eCommerce with the opening of a S$182 million Regional eCommerce Logistics Hub in the country.
The 553,000 sq. ft facility incorporates 150 loading bays, a fully automated parcel sorting facility with a capacity of up to 100,000 parcels a day, automated warehouse, and end-to-end sorting, shipping and returns management capabilities for faster order fulfillment.
According to the company the result is an integrated end-to-end process from the eCommerce front-end platform to delivery.
"Given the strong growth of eCommerce in Southeast Asia, the launch of SingPost's facility will further support its local and overseas growth. This will also enhance Singapore's capabilities in fulfillment and facilitate more regional eCommerce trade flows," said Chua Taik Him, deputy CEO of International Enterprise Singapore.

In a related move, the mail company has also launched a 'Centre of Innovation' to carry out research into new logistics and postal services and products.
Some initiatives include the innovation of last mile delivery options through building the next generation of POP Stations and experimenting with drone delivery across the island state; enhancements to its eCommerce logistics platform; providing a seamless omni-channel experience for kiosk and digital postal office; and combining the online and offline world of retail shopping for the SingPost mall.
