ROTTERDAM: December 15, 2016. Parcel International (PI), part of Tailormade Logistics Europe, has launched a same day delivery service called '12send' using Schiphol Airport's baggage handling system and KLM's European network.
The launch follows a trial in October on KLM flights between Amsterdam and Barcelona with last mile parcel delivery using electric vans and e-bikes to what PI hopes will be 20 European destinations.
Explaining the new service, PI partner Casper Plat said customers ordering fast fashion or books want a same-day service but often have to wait for next day delivery by truck.
"Thanks to 12send, same-day delivery of e-commerce goods is now possible in the whole of Europe by simply harnessing the otherwise unused cargo capacity of passenger planes."
"This means we can provide an 'ordered before noon, delivered before 11pm' service all over the Continent," he added.
"Same-day delivery is soon to be a standard, and as Europe's leading e-commerce hub, we have backed an innovative high-end service which is also CO2 responsible," commented the head of Schiphol Cargo Jonas van Stekelenburg.
With over 50 percent of all U.S. and Asian European distribution centers located in the Netherlands, 12send will also benefit from an unparalleled European road feeder and distribution network, according to Schiphol Cargo.
Set up in 2007, PI operates in the Netherlands, Belgium, China, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, Norway, France, Luxembourg, and the U.S.
