COLUMBIA, SC: July 31, 2018. ACL Airshop, a ULD sales, leasing and repair subsidiary of Ranger Aerospace, is to invest US$7.2 million in a new air cargo products factory in Greenville, S.C.
The 60,000-square-foot facility will feature high bay manufacturing spaces for air cargo nets, transportation straps and other products.
ACL Airshop CEO Steve Townes said the world’s fastest-growing region for aviation is the southeastern United States, and his company is going to be at the centre of a multi-state crossroads.
State governor Henry McMaster commented: “South Carolina’s economy continues to be a place where companies of all types can come here and succeed, and ACL Airshop’s new facility is yet another testament to that.”
Operating on six continents at most of the world's Top 50 air cargo hub airports, the company specialises in short-term ULD rentals and leasing solutions for airlines combined with Bluetooth tracking technology.
“At ACL Airshop, we are proud of what we have accomplished in the last 35 years and could not be more excited to continue our positive growth at a new facility in Greenville County,” declared EVP Wes Tucker.
“ACL Airshop’s new facility is a welcome addition to South Carolina’s burgeoning aerospace sector. I look forward to seeing the impact the growing aerospace sector will have on our state,” noted South Carolina secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
Greenville-Spartanburg (GSP) airport, adjacent to the largest BMW assembly plant outside Germany, is currently served by a Senator International B747-400 freighter service operating three to four flights a week from Munich via Frankfurt-Hahn airport.
In June, Hamburg-based Senator announced it has begun a weekly freighter operation between GSP and Querétaro International Airport, Mexico.
Querétaro, located just over 200 kilometres north of Mexico City in Mexico’s Bajio region, is a fast-growing growing economic area that includes automotive and manufacturing industries as well as one of the largest aerospace clusters in the world.
