SEATRADE White 1MARSEILLE/ANTWERP: July 17, 2017. CMA CGM and ocean reefer specialist Seatrade are to begin a vessel-sharing agreement for perishables in October 2017.

Subject to regulatory approval, the capacity will be used on a new weekly service linking Northern Europe, the U.S. East Coast, the Caribbean, Central America, Peru, the Pacific Islands, Australia and New Zealand.

The two companies claim the new liner operation will be the only one to provide such frequency from Europe and the U.S. to Papeete and Noumea; and the only dedicated reefer service from New Zealand to the U.S. and Europe that calls at Pisco in Peru for fruit exports.

Seatrade said 13 ships with a nominal capacity of 2200 to 2500 TEUs, including a minimum 600 reefers per vessel, would be deployed on the new route.

Founded in 1951, the company operates 100 vessels for perishable logistics worldwide. In April this year its latest vessel Seatrade White, with a reefer capacity of 674 TEU, was christened in the port of Tauranga, New Zealand (right).
