EFL charters Qatar Cargo from ColomboCOLOMBO, Sri Lanka: September 20, 2017. Fashion forwarder Expo Freight has shipped 100 tonnes of garments for Ohio-based retailer L Brands on a Qatar Airways Cargo B777 freighter from Colombo to Columbus' Rickenbacker Airport.

The shipment for Fortune 500 company L Brands, formerly known as Limited Brands, is the airline's first charter flight to Rickenbacker.

EFL founder and chairman Hanif Yusoof says the flight served as a great example of logistic providers and airlines working together to tailor solutions that benefit supply chain customers.

The apparel industry, which is Sri Lanka's primary foreign exchange earner and accounts for 40 percent of its total exports, ships sportswear, lingerie, loungewear, bridal wear, work wear, swimwear and children's clothing primarily to markets in the U.S. and Europe.

Qatar Airways operates twice-weekly A330 freighters and five times a day flights out of Colombo for a total of 460 tonnes of capacity a week.

Ulrich Ogiermann, airline chief officer Cargo says: "We appreciate the trust that EFL has placed in us to deliver this special air charter. Our extensive cargo network, young and modern fleet of 20 freighters and our expertise in freight charters are the competitive advantages that enable us to customize our connectivity and services to most of the airports in the world via our Doha hub."

EFL head of airfreight Irshad Razack adds: "We would like to thank the Qatar Airways Cargo team for arranging the first-ever charter to Rickenbacker. The longstanding mutual relationship between both stakeholders [that is] closer to a decade [ now] has paved the way to achieve this milestone."
