Fuel a more sustainable future

Compressor skidsCALGARY: October 17, 2017. Bolloré Logistics China has chartered four AN-124-100 flights to ship compressor skids from Calgary, Canada to the vast Galkynysh gas field in the province of Mary, Turkmenistan.

Each shipment included a main skid, which measured 13.75 meters long and weighed 81.5 tonnes, and a sub-skid of 7.65 meters weighing 13.9 tonnes. Both were delivered to a Chinese Oil & Gas Engineering, Procurement, and Construction company for use at a wellhead to increase production.

China is Turkmenistan's largest gas export market. By 2014 the country's gas accounted for 46 percent or 25.9 billion cubic meters of total Chinese gas imports.

Turkmenistan is one of the few countries to have significant volumes of gas available for export and is the world's biggest gas producer to be reliant on gas exports alone.

"The level of expertise and professionalism of Antonov Airlines combined with their unparalleled flexibility were key factors for the successful completion of this project," said Sun Hongbo, managing director of Bolloré Logistics North China.

In 2006 Turkmenistan and China signed a framework agreement on gas and oil cooperation that outlined plans for joint exploration, Chinese gas purchases and the commissioning of the Trans-Asia Gas Pipeline. The agreement also included a 30-year gas sale and purchase deal of 30 billion cubic meters a year and formed the basis for a new eastern export route from Turkmenistan to China.
