Fuel a more sustainable future

Southern Air MIA HKMIAMI: March 28, 2018. Southern Air will begin a weekly B777 freighter service on April 01 between Hong Kong and Miami International Airport (MIA) via Anchorage.

According to MIA, Hong Kong is the airport’s fourth largest Asia market, responsible for more than US$500 million in freight annually. In 2017, MIA’s trade with the entire Asia world region was valued at US$7.8 billion – a 16-percent rise over the 2016 figure.

“We are thrilled to add Southern Air to our growing route network in Asia. As the busiest U.S. airport for international freight, it is especially gratifying to welcome additional cargo service from Hong Kong, the world’s busiest freight airport,” said Miami-Dade Aviation Director Lester Sola.

Southern Air, a subsidiary of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings (AAWH), becomes the sixth all-cargo service from Asia to MIA that also includes Asiana Airlines (Seoul); Cathay Pacific (Hong Kong); China Airlines (Taipei); Korean Air (Seoul); and another AAWH subsidiary Polar Air (Seoul).
