FRANKFURT HAHN/BAKU: June 26, 2018. Silk Way West Airlines has provided a B747 freighter to fly food and medical supplies to Northern Iraq from Germany to Azerbaijanon behalf of German NGO Wings of Help.

Frank Franke SWW CrewThe airline used one of its Ilyushin 76 freighters for the feeder flight from Baku to Erbil where more than 23,000 children, including 4,000 children below the age of three and 3,500 orphans, were waiting.

“For us this project is a matter truly dear to our heart,” said Wolfgang Meier, Silk Way West Airlines president and CEO. “We are supporting Wings of Help since a long time and are very proud to be also part of this mission.

“Wings Of Help is doing a very important job by providing aid supplies to the refugee camps of Hasan Sham and Dibaga and we are doing our utmost to support them with our knowhow and fleet of cargo aircraft wherever we can. These dedicated aid supplies in cooperation with Wings of Help will always remain something special for all of us at Silkway,” he added.

Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen (Wings of Help) was set up 10 years ago by ex-journalist Frank Franke (pictured in black jacket with crew) and actress Marie-Luise Thuene. The organisation has partners in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Great Britain and Finland and provides support in response to natural and humanitarian catastrophes.
