HONG KONG: January 31, 2019. Hong Kong Air Cargo has become the latest airline to join IATA with the association’s general manager Hong Kong & Macau Yvonne Ho presenting president Jevey Zhang with the airline’s IATA membership certificate.
Last September the airline passed its IATA Operational Safety Audit designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline.
“We are delighted to welcome Hong Kong Air Cargo as our newest IATA member,” said Ho (pictured). “Hong Kong Air Cargo have proved that they are indeed a world player in this very tough market, they set the bar high and continue to excel in all areas of safety and best practice”.
Zhang added: “The recognition of the IATA membership is a proud moment for all of our staff and proves that hard work and determinations pays off. Hong Kong Air Cargo will continue to focus on developing its network with an aim to build Hong Kong as an air cargo hub.”
In November 2018, Zhang met with Turkish Airlines Chief Cargo Officer Turhan Ozen to agree code sharing on long haul routes and aircraft capacity utlisation.
A subsidiary of HNA-owned Hong Kong Airlines, the air carrier began operations in 2010 with one A330-200 freighter and now operates services to 13 destinations in China, Viet Nam, Turkey and Malaysia.
