WATERLOO, ON: February 05, 2019. Descartes Systems Group says Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) is using its Air Cargo Advance Screening (Descartes ACAS) solution to meet the mandatory advanced security filing requirements for US imports by air.

Created to enhance security and provide visibility to cargo before it’s in the air, ACAS) is a joint U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) programme that requires data be submitted prior to loading at a foreign airport.

NCA B747 400F“Compliance with regulations, such as ACAS, is essential to ensuring safe and secure operations for our customers and NCA,” commented Keita Sataka, NCA senior vice president.

The Descartes solution consolidates mandatory ACAS data from multiple sources, validates conformity to CBP’s unique ACAS message formats, and submits documents, including master and house bill information, to CBP without manual intervention.

Last month NCA announced it would add three of its B747-400 freighters (right) to its existing two-aircraft contract with Atlas Air in April, July and September this year. NCA will continue to operate a fleet of eight B747-8F aircraft.

“The partnership with Atlas has enabled NCA to expand our network to capture growth opportunities throughout Asia. The addition of these three aircraft will allow NCA to provide our customers with additional air freight capacity especially for the growing e-commerce business,” said Hitoshi Oshika, NCA president and CEO.

“NCA has selected Atlas Air to operate its entire 747-400F fleet, and we look forward to continuing to provide NCA and its customers with an unmatched service and a platform for future global expansion,” added William Flynn, president and CEO of Atlas Air Worldwide.
