ROTTERDAM/COPENHAGEN: June 12, 2019. Multimodal logistics operator Samskip has selected Danish IoT technology company Globe Tracker to provide a tracking and monitoring solution for its reefer container fleet.

"We have been evaluating the Globe Tracker solution for some time and we are very happy with their technology, level of innovation and customer focus," said Samsjip Technical manager Danny De Koning.

On June 05, Hapag-Lloyd launched a real-time monitoring programme for its 100,000 reefer containers based on Globe Tracker technology following a similar decision in May by Dole.

"Dole has taken an important step by investing in this new technology for our container fleet, which allows remote monitoring of our products throughout the supply chain,” commented company equipment manager Ana Anchia at the time. “It also opens the doors to the world of big data in terms of perishables' transportation and with it the data prediction and automation [for] our Dole products."

Founded in Iceland and now based in Rotterdam, Samskip is able to move some 12,000 containers door-to-door between Russia, Scandinavia, Poland, the Baltic States, Finland and Iceland in the north of Europe to Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Greece, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia.
