BIRMINGHAM, UK: June 19, 2019. Ocean Network Express (ONE) is to use the PARIS Enterprise transport optimisation software from Hutchison Ports.
The software has been developed to provide shipping lines and logistics providers with an integrated system that can compare millions of possibilities by road, rail or water in seconds to identify the most efficient, least-cost option for planning an entire region.
“PARIS was the only solution in the market that could fulfill all our optimisation requirements for the coming years across the Europe Africa region,” commented Robert Jan Brussaard, head of Inland Operations & Procurement at ONE. “We are really excited about introducing PARIS and the benefits it will bring to our organisation. The software will enable us to reduce our carbon footprint and deliver sustainable solutions for our customers as well as offering efficiency savings through reduced empty mileage.”
Meanwhile at the Multimodal 2019 expo and conference this week in Birmingham, ONE CEO Jeremy Nixon won Personality of the Year at the awards evening.
“Jeremy Nixon oversaw the merger of three companies to create ONE, which has now become one of the biggest names in container shipping, and the award recognises his significant contributions to the industry,” said Rob Jervis, Logistics Portfolio director Clarion Events and organiser of Multimodal 2019.
Nixon was awarded the accolade by a judging panel comprising the Multimodal selection group and 2018 winner Chris Lewis, managing director DP World and CEO of London Gateway.
“To receive the Multimodal Personality of the Year Award is a real honour,” said Nixon. “Change is a constant in logistics, and although there has been an overall slowdown in container shipping this year, the market will pick up in the medium term.”
Kuehne + Nagel, DHL Global Forwarding, Freightliner and DSV were also winners at the event, which was attended by over 680 guests on the first day of Multimodal 2019. The ceremony also featured a charity auction for the naming rights of an Eddie Stobart tractor unit which raised £1,750 for transport charity Transaid.
