KUALA LUMPUR: August 19, 2019. The ground handling division of MAB Kargo has acknowledged Emirates SkyCargo as its best customer in 2018 for transporting the largest volume of airfreight from Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
The airline has been flying to Malaysia since 1996 and currently operates three daily A380/B777 services - providing shippers with close to 700 tonnes of cargo capacity every week.
“During the 2018/19 financial year Emirates SkyCargo transported close to 23,000 tonnes of export and import cargo from Malaysia which translated into a growth of more than 17 percent from the previous year,” said Bobby Chang, Emirates Cargo manager for Malaysia (pictured). “The award from MAB Kargo is an important recognition of our achievements and our growth in the Malaysia market,” he added.
Exports from Malaysia include electronic products and components including semiconductors, laptops and other consumer products, plus spare parts for the aviation, oil and gas and solar panel sectors. Frequently imported commodities include pharmaceuticals, fashion goods, and perishables.
Earlier this year the carrier operated a charter to fly over 65,000 kilos of solar panels manufactured in Malaysia to support the infrastructure for supply of electricity to remote areas in Zambia.
